Ashton's First Year

So far so good!

Solids are going AMAZINGLY well!!! Ashton has eaten EVERYTHING that we've given him.

So far (every 4 days trying something new):

Rice Cereal
Banana
Oatmeal
Acorn Squash

He eats everything and wants more, but it's still only at 2 meals a day, won't bump up to 3 until 8 months.

I'm so excited, a little too much I think, this time around doing solids. I've definitely gotten the money back out of our food processor and then some. I'm willing to do and try WAYYYY more things, ok, cook, than I did with Reese and Riley at this point because I know what the girls like to eat on a regular basis, as well as throw some other things in there like Acorn Squash. 1 hour in a water bath in the oven they were ready to go, and OH SO GOOD! Yea, I need to make sure I'm putting more of the food in the jars than eating it.

I've also been taking photos of all the solids he's tried (See 6 month section).

I'm also THRILLED to know that Ashton has really started to master the sippy cup! I've been spoon feeding him water to help aid in digestion with the kidneys and figured why not start with a sippy. Low and behold if not by day 3 he was learning how to suck out the water and hold it in without the majority of it running down his chin!

I'm proud of Ashton. I've been giving him a sippy cup after each meal to get him used to drinking water, and trying to figure out how to drink from it. It's a different sucking motion than that of nursing or using a bottle, so it takes practice.

I'm happy to report that he's got it down 99%! Just has to work on holding and tipping it up, but he's well on his way to being a sippy cup drinker!

SPRING FEVER!

Today was a "warmer" day, and a HUGE tease of Spring just around the corner, at around 55 degrees today. Jamie and her two sons, Aiden and Collin were coming over for a play date, but we decided to head to the zoo to get some fresh air!

It was a PERFECT day for it not too cold, not to hot and the best part..... hardly ANYONE was there!

Baptismal

Ashton was baptized today, this first Sunday of Lent. It was a wonderful service that was more like a vocal concert by the beautiful voice of Larry Ford.

Tom, Linda and Shaun joined all of us today to celebrate Ashton. My mother and grandparents weren’t in attendance as my, almost 78 year old, grandmother was due for additional surgery today to repair a hernia in Virginia. However, due to 12 inches of snow that fell last night, it has now been postponed. If you all wouldn’t mind keeping her in your thoughts I would appreciate it.

Ashton was really good during his baptism, only got a little wiggly with Reverand Brown holding his hand on his wet het for so long... and of course everyone laughed when Ashton tried to grab his ear mic! Ashton then drank from his bottle and took a 15 minute cat nap before picture time.

After photos we headed to our normal Bob Evan's lunch for such occations, but with a 45 min wait or LONGER for our large grup, we headed over to Eat n' Park which worked out even better... Sunday Brunch!
